This impressionist
French landscape painting was painted in many layers of egg tempera made from natural ground stones and egg yolk. Linda Paul uses lapis lazuli, malachite and ochers from ancient mines in Provence France to make her paint. read more about the French ochre mines
Artist's Inspirations: Once of my favorite French towns is
Continac. It is a tiny little village where time seems to have stood
still. The center of the town is not open to any traffic so life
is clam and wonderful. You eat outside under the dappled light of the
plane trees and watch the old French men play Boules. They play all day,
every day!
Most egg tempera paintings are very exact and hard line.
I use egg tempera in a completely different manner, using impressionism
and soft lines.
I use natural crushed stone and earth mixed with a bit of water and egg yolk to make
my egg tempera paint.
Blues come from crushed lapis lazuli, greens from malachite and natural green earth found around Verona Italy.
I use fascinating colors which have been lost
for hundreds of years and new colors which I have discovered in the Rocky Mountains. This medium is luminous and lasts for centuries.
