Artist's Inspirations: I was in the mood to create something colorful, free flowing and simple. What could be simpler and more beautiful than spring flowers. I like to draw my flowers with movement as if they are dancing in the breeze. I also wanted garden life, so I included some of my favorite garden critters; a gold finch, butterflies, bees, a ladybug, dragonfly and a snail. Flowers include tulips, poppies, bleeding heart, daffodil, iris, columbine, coral bells and sunflower

These are bas-relief sculptures as well as as paintings. All of the elements were sculpted in bas-relief before being painted in pure egg tempera which I make by hand by grinding natural pigments mixed with a touch of egg yolk. read more about Egg Tempera
