Artist's Inspirations: This
inspirational art painting of a blooming clematis flower
invites personal growth and reminds us to shed our layers of issues and
attachments and open ourselves up to the possibility
of a new beginning. The core of the flower
represents the universe and all her beauty and
energy. I hope my painting inspires something in
you.

About this original artwork: This
artwork is painted in thick, glossy acrylic
paint which I made myself so that I could get a
pearly nature to the paint. It was painted
on a 30" x 30" x 2" thick art board panel. The
2" sides are painted in dark green.
Its frameless format fits a contemporary style
and decor very nicely

here are the set of 2

transform any plain wall into a statement of
color and beauty. Green and brown is fabulous

Here is how this painting was created
|

|
I want to create a set of paintings with
beautiful shades of the spring green colors and
pearl colors. I am making my own
paint as the
colors I want can not be purchased from
any art supply store (I also like making
paint, it has a wonderful Zen quality to it.) So
I ordered some mica and pearlescent powder that
I will mix a gloss acrylic polymer
In the picture (to the left) I am just starting the painting.
The flower is a clematis florida alba plena which I
just love for its shades of green and white. I
wish I could grow it in Colorado but our winters
are just a bit cold for this floral diva.
At this stage I have sketched in the flower and
painted a dark green background to contrast with
the pearly petals that I am planning to do. I
like the way this flower unfolds and seems to
offer a new beginning. Something we all need
once in a while.

In
the picture (to the left) I am doing the
undercoat of the
flower petals in pure egg tempera. This
allows me to develop and change the colors at
will.

Now I am
painting the finish coats in a thick impasto
acrylic which I made by mixing those same pearly
pigments with a thick polymer. The thick polymer
suspends the pearlescent pigments for a fabulous
intense yet soft effect. The web does not really
translate the pearliness of this painting.
It captures the light and glimmers
A new kind of flower power: This piece is
both flower and power because it seems to
emanate a strength from its center core. To me
it is very inspirational |
