Frame: Frame is 4" solid wood frame, hand-finished by the artist to perfectly compliment the painting. It is finished in a dark maroon egg tempera distressed to reveal an orange ochre undertone. it has been sealed with varnish.
My inspiration for this work stems from my own secret desire to be a writer and what I believe it takes:
Time, Faith, Inspiration, Growth, and the willingness to fight for it (the boxing gloves) That and a lot of coffee!
This painting is painted in pure egg tempera using crushed minerals & egg yolk. The brilliant greens come from crushed malachite, the blues from lapis lazuli. The artist mixes the crushed mineral with egg yolk and applies many translucent luminous layers. This medium lasts for centuries.
