| This painting is so
colorful with vibrant aqua turquoise brilliant greens
and deep violet blues in the water. The gold
flowers have flames of gold, amber and deep but
transparent umber. The other two flowers are
majenta and violet. its perfect for today's trends on
decorating where aqua and turquoise are once again
taking center stage. It has a high gloss finish This
original work of art is painted on a 12" x 24" x 2"
art panel/board. it is a solid surface. I began
this painting, by creating an underlay of metals and then
applying layers
of intense transparent colors on top. The metals
under the paint glint and sparkle like glass on fire.
Depending on the angle of the light, the piece seems
to dance with changing colors and internal light. It
looks amazing in candle light too
Artist's
Inspiration: In this painting the inspiration came
from the materials I was experimenting with. I playing
around for months experimenting with metals and
polymers. I discovered combination that captured light
and movement in a new and fascinating way.

|
Here is one one my experiment boards
that was the inception of this painting. When
I am experimenting, I let process and
curiosity
take me in any direction. I played with
copper and silver metals, polymers, dyes etc. I
tag my experiments with post it notes so I can
remember what I have done.

I then created a little
study of a water lily from my experiments.
I love the serendipitous nature of this
process. In the background water portion, the
paint flows and goes where it wants to. The
effects are not seen until the next day when it
its dry. When I lay down the polymers and
pigments, everything is opaque white and then
the color emerges over the next 12 hours
or so . its a great exercise for letting go of
control

Orchid Window
|
My Orchid Window painting that
I did a few years back was inspired by Monet's
water lilies and gardens at Giverny. The first
time I saw the permanent installation of Monet's
water lilies in the oval rooms of the
Musée de l'Orangerie
in Paris, it brought tear to
my eyes. They were amazing.
